The BLACKENED cigars by Drew Estate represent an extraordinary collaboration between three iconic figures, each a master in their field: Jonathan Drew, founder and president of Drew Estate, James Hetfield, co-founder and frontman of the legendary band Metallica, and Rob Dietrich, master distiller of BLACKENED American Whiskey.

This unique project was born from the friendship between Hetfield and Dietrich, both avid cigar enthusiasts who regularly share this convivial ritual. Their mutual passion sparked the idea to combine their expertise with that of Drew, a longtime friend of Dietrich. After more than a decade of dreaming about such a venture, the opportunity finally arose.

The creation of BLACKENED cigars was a true sensory journey. Drew Estate sent a selection of samples to Hetfield and Dietrich, who meticulously documented their impressions in a journal, noting the strengths and weaknesses of each cigar. Over two years of detailed tastings and passionate discussions, the three creators worked hand in hand to refine and perfect a unique aromatic profile.
