CHAMAREL - THE INSTITUTION OF RHUM IN MAURITIUS

The Chamarel rum distillery was established in 2008 on the island of Mauritius. Several types of terroir exist on this island in the Indian Ocean. Chamarel uses only sugar cane grown close-by, which is crushed within four hours of being harvested in order to collect the juice while it is at its freshest and full of fragrant vitality. Thanks to quality checks at every stage of the production process, Chamarel distillery produces very high-quality rum. It is important to note that no burning takes place, which ensures the quality of the cane juice, locally called 'fangourin'.
